The CIBC Run for the Cure is “Canada's largest single day, volunteer-led fundraising event” dedicated to these causes and initiatives. This year’s event took place on Sunday, October 2nd, raising over $30 million nation-wide in 2011. Continuing from last year, JoinTheLeaders’ (JTL) Lead By Example (LBE) has promoted the event in individual regions in the past and has decided to participate as a national team this year in both Vancouver and Toronto to raise the awareness in the Korean-Canadian community and the areas that we live in. On Saturday, October 15th, 2011, the JTL members from the New York City participated in the Annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research, which happened at the Central Park in Manhattan. This was an annual event in support of the cancer research at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York under the name of the Canadian hero, Terry Fox. Yongsub Eric Shin, Jungsup Lee, and Sukho Chung successfully completed a 5km run alongside the University of Waterloo team, and demonstrated "Lead By Example" as the first JTL philanthropic initiation in New York.
